Chicago Bear Hall of Famer, Dick Butkus maliciously surveying the Green Bay Packer offense lineup for the next play.  The defensive scheme has been called and the offensive play has been decided the quiet lull before the storm has started.  Butkus projects a harsh glare over the offensive line up and Starr surveys the defense before him.  Tension is in the midst and the forthcoming with contact and collision to follow.  Packer great Paul Horning describes his first game against Dick Butkus.  Horning stated that during the game Butkus made 26 unassisted tackles and bit him through Horning’s facemask.  Packer Head Coach, Vince Lombardi expressed his concern in pregame planning by asking the team what they are going to do about Butkus.  LA Rams great, Deacon Jones would terrify his offensive teammates, telling them Butkus was not trying to put you in the hospital, he was trying to put you in the cemetery.  You can see Butkus’ menacing gaze as he contemplated his plan of attack and determined whom he would decimate in the forthcoming play.  I believe this picture captures Dick Butkus’ thinking about how he would react to the next play.  Would he tackle the opponents ball carrier with such devastating force leaving little doubt about who just tackled him.
